New White Series painting (scroll down to see the full piece)
As much as I love color, I've wanted for years to experiment with subtle variations of white. Here's a detail of my new piece (scroll down to see a small image of the full painting.)

My galleries keep asking me for more colorful pieces because they sell well, but life has thrown so much at me over the last few years, it finally feels like time to sink into light, like crisp white sheets... like clouds in these gorgeous ever-changing mountain skies.
Purity. Something clean. Simplicity.
My first real ventures into the veil of white came around this time last year, as I was feeling worn down by ongoing cold, both physical and metaphorical. My Winter paintings came out of that:

Understandably, last year's whites were crammed full. I do still love these pieces, but right now, for me, both of them feel like a year's worth of details, a year's worth of paintings, incorporated onto one canvas, as if I was so stunned by death around me that I needed to fit in as much as I could while I could... a sort of odd, inverted sense of scarcity.
This time around, I've wanted to focus on one detail at a time, to savor it, and create a sumptuous, clean beauty. I think if I could, I would showcase one exquisite painting at a time in my studio/gallery, rather than full walls, just one sumptuous piece like this new one, on a clean blank wall. One perfect gift.
Here's the full piece on the wall:

I'm participating again in Trinity School's "Spotlight on Art," sale featuring over 1700 pieces of original art. I have dozens of pieces available at the show, ranging from tiny collectible 4X4 paintings to a 48X48 inch diptych.
I'll be at the reception tomorrow from 6-9, so stop by and say hello. The paintings will be on display through Saturday.
